Répète Pas Ça, Re-Branding

UNADOPTED CONCEPT (2021)

Last year, my friend Alexandre Bisaillon announced they would be re-”starting” the podcast I originally helped brand. Although I’m happy with how the original kit came out and received positive feedback, I always felt that it happened in a slightly rushed manner. I had a chance now to re-visit my vision. I decide to switch things around and have the PAS be in sans-serif. The RÉPÈTE and ÇA we’re re-worked with a more modern display font. I simplified the background to the branding needs of the podcast and worked in a line-paper motif in the background, like a psychologist would have (a wink to the subject matter).

Alas, they decided not to use the new branding and instead updated the original art. This happens sometimes and you still have to believe in what you create. I’m still quite happy with my work, so I decided to share it on my website.

Collaborative Business Planning

Logo Contract (2019)

In 2019, I was approached by my father and his team to create a logo for the launch of their company. The company’s main product is a software add-on for the business management software QualiWare.

CBP’s software is unique in that it manages to calculate complex network scenarios in real time using a visual interface. The initial concept was to represent the colour and shapes of the icons used in the software as well as the paths between the items.

When I went to work on initial concepts, I wanted something that represented movement and points in between. I wanted to create something that would sit well between the logos of recognizable software like the Microsoft Suite, the IBM logo and the internet platform icons.

Their final choice was a concept I called fixed-resource. The idea was to create the illusion of a closed loop in the center of the counters of the letters, that makes it look like three o’s (ooo) if you take out the ascender and the descender. The colours inside of the letters shown in a gradient represents the colours of the main assets of the resources in the softwares visual interface.

RÉPÈTE PAS ÇA

Logo / Branding (2017-2019)

In 2017 my dear friend Alexandre Bisaillon told me about his idea for a podcast he wanted to create with a neuropsychologist friend of ours, Doctor Guillaume Dulude. The concept of the podcast is to interview known personalities in the art domain and get to know them and what drives them by the means of interview and intervention by Guillaume. Alex asked me to create a logo for the show and help them with retouching and some marketing elements.

LIGUE D’IMPROVISATION FRANCOPHONE

Logo Contract (2019)

In 2019, my friend Mathieu Saint-Laurent asked me if I could help him develop a branding for a new french improvisation league set in Toronto. The idea was simple, it would initially start in Toronto and later move on to different cities. That created a necessity of a two part logo, where the city name could easily be replaced. The process went fast as he appreciated my first mock-ups very quickly. We found a very modern and unique logo, with the letters forged in each other representing team work, like in improv. Keep an eye out for the LIF arriving in a city near you!

Kannon Films (2018)

In 2018, my friend Émilie Martel who ran her own production company asked me if I would develop a logo for her. The company was called Kannon, after the Buddhist Goddess of mercy. The focus of the company is documentaries work on nature and preservation.

My goal was to make something timeless, organic and grand. I went with a custom serif title and created a ceiba tree illustration as an icon to accompany to the title at Émilie’s request. The trees from the ceiba family grow alone, away from other trees alike since they grow taller and bigger than any trees in their area. These gigantic plants live for 300-400 years and are the perfect symbol of resilience, strength and the magic of nature.

Vertuose : re-opening book

In 2016, Godin Atelier lands a major design contract with Vertuose, for the new location of their plant shop located in Mile End. Under the leadership of the Artistic Director Stéphane Godin, I collaborated in the creation of a lookbook of the store and its products, participated in the photo shoots and performed photo editing.
